Choosing a look with theme templates
The previous generation of themes — how the looks installed before the Library keep working, and where to edit them until they are converted.
Looks are now designed under Apps → Library — see the Library in Branding and themes. This page covers the previous themes: the looks installed by the setup wizard or from the old template gallery. They keep working, and keep being edited here, until your screens are moved to Design. After that move the styling on these themes is locked for kiosk, QR ordering and menu boards, and this page keeps the rest — see If you set up your look before Design existed in Branding and themes. The Gallery, AI theming and Theming reference tabs described below now open the Design studio instead.
Mavos shipped a gallery of professionally designed looks — called theme templates — covering the three kinds of screens your customers and staff see: QR & kiosk ordering, menu displays, and the POS register. Everything a template installed stays fully editable here until your screens move to Design; from then on, colours, fonts, spacing and layout for customer screens are edited in Design, and the register's themes stay fully editable here.
Where to find the gallery
Settings → Themes no longer appears in the settings menu; the Edit → links beside an app's theme pickers still land there, as does the address itself. It opens on the first of its four tabs; the other three now redirect to Design:
- My themes (where you land) — the themes installed on your account: what each one is the default for, where it's used, and buttons to edit, delete, or create missing defaults.
- Gallery — now opens the Library's gallery of new-format looks. The old template gallery is applied only during setup (below).
- AI theming — now opens the Library, where Ask, under a look's preview, is the assistant.
- Theming reference — now opens the Library.
Where a template's themes go
A template installs ordinary themes, one per part of the screen, that you can edit like any other in My themes or from the app builder. Each was installed either as the default look for one or more app types — every app of that type without its own explicit theme picks it up — or for a specific app only. Templates use your brand colours and font from Settings → Branding, so the same template looks like your business, not a stock design.
To give a screen a new look now, design one under Apps → Library and assign it there; an app with a look from the Library takes its colours, fonts, spacing, headers and footers from that look, and uses its old theme selections only for what a look does not hold yet: attract slides and schedules, menu search and filters, what the item pop-up shows, card tags and HTML templates.
During setup
New accounts choose their look inside the setup wizard — the Choose your look step suggests a template trio matched to your industry and creates your first apps (POS register, online ordering page, and menu) with it. See the setup checklist.
Tips
- Changed your brand colours? Installed templates follow your palette automatically — no need to re-apply.
- POS register looks are not moving to the Library: the register's tiles and layout are set in that app's own settings, under POS behaviour → Register look.
