Editing and formatting pages

The selection toolbar, turning blocks into other types, the slash menu, keyboard shortcuts, and focus mode in the wiki editor.

Editing and formatting pages

Wiki pages are built from blocks — paragraphs, headings, lists, images, callouts and more. Editing feels like a modern document editor: hover, select, and a small set of tools appears right where you need them.

Formatting text you've selected

Select some text and a small floating toolbar appears above it with:

• Bold, italic, strikethrough and code
• Link — turn the selection into a link
• Turn into ▾ — change the block the text is in (heading, quote, callout, list, and so on)

Working with blocks

Hover over the left edge of any block to reveal two small controls: a + to insert a new block below, and a drag handle to reorder blocks by dragging them up or down.

With a block selected, you can also:

• Move it up or down with Alt + ↑ / ↓
• Duplicate it with Ctrl/Cmd + D
• Cycle a heading through its levels with Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + .

The slash menu

Type / at the start of an empty line to open the slash menu — a searchable list of everything you can insert: headings, lists, callouts, tables, images, and templates (see Templates and duplicating pages). It remembers the block types you've used most recently so they show up first, and you can just keep typing to filter the list.

The details panel

The panel on the right shows settings for whatever you've selected — the block you're working on, or the page as a whole when nothing is selected (title, path, word count, reading time, and any accessibility issues worth fixing). It's collapsible if you want more room, and it stays open by default so there's always a visible place to find "the settings for the thing I clicked."

Page header

The header above the page shows where you are (space / parent page / page), a save status indicator, and the publish/review button for the space's approval process. The ⋯ menu next to it holds version history, Save as template…, Add to onboarding path…, Duplicate page, and Print / PDF.

Focus mode

Press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + F (or use the header button) to hide everything but the page itself — handy when you just want to write without distractions. Press Esc to leave focus mode.

Keyboard shortcuts

Press ? anywhere in the wiki to see the full list of shortcuts. The most useful ones:

Shortcuts are automatically switched off while you're typing in a text field, so they never get in the way of your writing.
