Headers, footers and your library

Reusable sections and widget presets in one place, plus creating more than one header or footer, setting a default, and overriding per page.

Library is where everything reusable for your website lives: sections you've saved from the page editor, and your headers and footers. Filter by type, and each row shows whether it's the site default and how many pages use it.

Sections

A section you save from the page editor (its Save to library action) shows up here so you can drop it onto other pages later. Sections aren't a separate editing surface — you rename or delete them from the Library list, but you build and insert them from inside the page editor.

Headers and footers

Unlike a section, you can have several headers and footers, not just one. This is useful for a landing page that needs a stripped-down header, or a seasonal footer you switch to and from.

  • Create a new header or footer from the Library the same way you'd create a page, then edit it like any other page content.
  • Set as default on any header or footer — that's the one every page uses unless it says otherwise.
  • On an individual page (from its settings, or the Header/Footer columns on the Pages list), choose Default, a specific header or footer by name, or None to show no header or footer at all on that page — handy for a bare landing page.
  • If you delete a header or footer that a page was using directly, that page simply falls back to the site default rather than breaking.

Publishing

Headers and footers have a draft and a published version — unlike sections, which go live the moment you save. Make your changes, and a "Unpublished changes" badge shows on the Library row until you publish; visitors keep seeing the previous version until then. This matters because a header or footer appears on every page at once, so it gets its own safety net before it reaches anyone.

Widget presets

A widget is a self-contained piece like a product showcase, an event list, or a newsletter signup. Save one's current settings and styling as a preset from its settings panel in the page editor (Save as preset), and it shows up here in your Library too — rename, edit, or delete it just like a header or footer.

  • Set as default on a preset to make it the one Swap preset offers first for that widget type, and the starting point when that type is changed to via Change type.
  • Saving a preset — or changing one later — never changes a widget you've already set up on a page. It only affects what you get when you deliberately choose that preset again.
