Memberships & loyalty
Your customer card
What the card customers receive is, how they use it at the counter, and how staff scan or type it.
What customers get
When someone joins your rewards program, buys a membership or receives a gift card, Mavos emails them a card: a QR code plus a link to their own card page. The card is personal to them and works at every one of your locations.
The card page shows their points and tier, their membership, and any gift cards saved to them. It has two buttons that matter at the counter:
- Show the QR — staff scan it (or type the link) to attach the customer to the sale.
- Get a counter code — a short code (4 digits by default) that works for ten minutes. Customers read it out to staff or type it on a kiosk. It can only be used once.
Customers who sign in to their Mavos account see every card they hold under Cards & rewards, can show a counter code from there, and can choose Get a new card if they think someone else has their link.
At the counter
Tap the scan button beside the customer name box. In the box at the top of the panel, scan the customer's QR, paste their card link, or type the counter code they read out. The customer attaches to the sale with their points showing, and their member benefits appear in the Discount panel as usual.
A USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner works anywhere on the register screen — it simply types the code for you and Mavos recognises it. The same box also accepts gift card codes and booking codes.
Gift cards
Gift card emails now carry a QR and a Use in store: get a code button that works the same way as a customer's counter code. If the card is saved to a customer's profile, staff can also pay with it from the customer's cards on the Pay screen once the customer is attached — no code needed.
The Order online button on a gift card email opens your online ordering app with the gift card already applied at checkout.
Settings
Under Settings → Loyalty & cards:
- Counter code length — 4 digits (easiest to read out) or 6 (harder to guess).
- A card scanned at a kiosk can — identify only, or identify and redeem. A counter code always allows redemption.
- Mobile number at a kiosk — whether customers may enter their mobile number at a kiosk to earn points.
- Default online ordering app — where "Order online" buttons send customers.
From a customer's profile in admin, the Card tab lets you issue a card, re-send the email, or issue a new card.
Good to know
- The card is sent whenever the email template for it is set to send automatically (Settings → Branding → Templates). Turn it off there and cards are still created; customers find them in their account.
- Joining rewards from a receipt sends the card email instead of a separate sign-in email — the card email includes the sign-in link.
- A card link is like a password: anyone who has it can see that customer's points and cards. If a customer thinks theirs has been shared, they can get a new one from their account, or you can issue one from the Card tab.
