Templates and duplicating pages
Start a new page from a built-in or company template, set a default template for a space, and duplicate an existing page.
Templates and duplicating pages
Starting a new page from a blank screen is slower than starting from something close to what you need. Wiki gives you two ways to skip that blank screen: templates and duplicating.
Built-in templates
Every company has a set of ready-made templates to start from:
- SOP / Procedure — a step-by-step procedure with common mistakes called out
- Policy — a policy statement with scope and consequences
- How-to guide — task-focused steps with prerequisites and troubleshooting
- Checklist — a simple, checkable list of items
- Meeting notes — agenda, decisions, and action items
- FAQ — common questions with plain-language answers
- Training document — a learning objective, overview and key points
- Incident report — timeline, impact, and follow-up actions
- Decision record — options considered, the decision made, and why
Starting a page from a template
Choose New page from the tree, the dashboard, or the command palette (Ctrl/Cmd + K) and you'll be offered three choices: a blank page, the built-in gallery, or any templates your company has saved. You can also type /template while writing to insert a template's content straight into the page you're on.
Your own templates
Found a page structure worth reusing? Open its ⋯ menu and choose Save as template…, give it a name and description, and it joins your company's own template list alongside the built-ins. Checked-off to-do items are unchecked and anything specific to that one page (attached files, embedded forms) is left out, so the template stays generic.
Setting a default template for a space
Open a space's Settings and choose a default template — every new page created directly in that space will start from it automatically, unless someone picks something else.
Duplicating a page
To make a copy of an existing page, open its ⋯ menu (or right-click it in the tree) and choose Duplicate page. You can duplicate into the same space or a different one. The copy gets " (copy)" added to its title, keeps the page's tags, and always starts as an unpublished draft so you can review it before it goes live. Version history, comments, tasks and any quiz on the original are not carried over — the copy starts fresh.
What's next
- Editing and formatting pages — the toolbar and slash menu.
- Finding things — search, favorites, recents, and the command palette.
