See who else is looking at a page, avoid overwriting each other's edits, mention a teammate, and choose how you're notified about changes.

Working together in the wiki

Wiki pages are shared, editable documents — these features help a team work on them at the same time without stepping on each other's toes.

Seeing who else is here

Open a page and you'll see small avatars in the header for anyone else currently viewing or editing it. Someone actively editing gets a highlighted ring around their avatar, so you can tell at a glance whether you're alone on a page or sharing it.

Avoiding overwritten edits

Only one person edits a page's draft at a time. If you open a page someone else is already editing, you'll see a banner — "<name> is editing this page — you're in read-only mode until they finish" — with a Take over option if you need to make an urgent change. Taking over saves the other person's latest changes first, then hands editing to you; they'll see a notice that you've taken over and drop to read-only themselves.

If a connection issue ever causes two people to edit at once anyway, the wiki notices when you try to save and asks you to reload rather than silently overwriting anyone's work.

Mentioning someone

Type @ followed by a name in a comment or in the page text to mention a teammate — they'll get an email letting them know. Mentions show up as a highlighted name wherever they appear.

Watching a page

Click the bell icon in a page's header to watch it — you'll be notified about future activity on it. Editing or commenting on a page watches it for you automatically; click the bell again any time to stop watching.

Choosing how you're notified

Open your notification settings from the wiki's settings page to choose how watched-page activity reaches you:

  • Daily digest — one email a day summarizing everything that happened on pages you watch, plus any mentions and new ideas.
  • Instant only — a separate email as soon as something happens.
  • Off — no emails; you can still catch up from the Activity feed any time.
