Getting started with Marketing

Find your way around Marketing, see what needs you, and send your first campaign.

Getting started with Marketing

Marketing helps you stay in touch with your customers by email and SMS, with one-off campaigns, always-on flows, and Ma, an assistant that suggests ideas and drafts messages for you. Nothing is sent or spent until someone with permission approves it.

The menu

  • Home: what's going out, what needs you, and how your last send did.
  • To review: ideas from Ma and alerts about how things are going. The number beside it shows how many are waiting.
  • Ask Ma: chat with Ma to plan a campaign, write copy or explain a result.
  • Send: Campaigns (one-off sends), Flows (always-on journeys) and Calendar (everything approved, by date).
  • Build: Audiences (who receives what), Templates (how emails and texts look) and Images.
  • Reports: what your marketing earned.
  • Settings: email and SMS setup, your brand kit, limits and notifications.

Before your first send

  1. Open Settings and check that Email (and SMS, if you want it) shows Ready to send. If it says Not set up, press Set up and connect a sender in your business settings.
  2. Fill in your Brand kit, including your postal address. Every marketing email must include it, and emails can't be sent without it.
  3. Create a campaign. See Sending a campaign.

Who can do what

Owners, admins and managers can create, approve and send. Other staff can look but not send.
